DivinaLaw Senior Partner Atty. Jay Layug recently shared developments in the renewable energy sector in a forum organized by the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP).
Department of Transportation Sec. Jaime Bautista and Philippine Institute for Development Studies Research Fellow Dr. Kris Francisco also spoke during the forum which aims to provide a platform for top economic officials to share updates on the state of the Philippine economy and the outlook for the coming months.
During his presentation, Atty. Layug highlighted energy infrastructure, including transmission, distribution, renewable energy and waste management, as part of the Philippine Development Plan for 2023-2028 and as significant issues for the current administration. He emphasized the need for a waste energy law to incentivize local government units to convert waste to energy.
Atty. Layug co-heads DivinaLaw’s Energy practice and is also co-chairman of the Renewable Energy Efficiency Committee of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.
