As Co-Chair of European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Committee, Senior Partner Jay Layug presented the issues, challenges and opportunities of the private sector in the Philippine electric power and energy industry, at the EU Free Trade Agreement discussion last June 4 at Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City.
He encouraged EU foreign investors to consider the Philippines as their major investment destination and highlighted also specific chapters of the FTA, e.g., on trade and sustainable development, technical barriers to trade, customs and trade facilitation, to ensure seamless and mutually beneficial economic exchanges between the EU and the Philippines. The resumption of the EU-PH FTA negotiations is expected to start in mid-October.
