In April 2025, the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (“ACMF”) first launched the ASEAN Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide for SMEs in Supply Chains (“ASEDG”) Version 1, a voluntary guide designed to support small and medium enterprises (“SMEs”) across ASEAN in reporting environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) information to stakeholders, including customers, financiers and investors. Following stakeholder consultation, Version 2 was released in November 2025, which now replaces Version 1.
The ASEDG streamlines and consolidates various global ESG frameworks, as well as local guidelines and frameworks of each of the 10 ASEAN member states, into a set of 38 priority disclosures for each of the ESG pillars.
The ASEDG further categorises these 38 disclosures into Basic, Intermediate and Advanced categories for SMEs to reference based on their sustainability maturity and to guide the progression to higher categories.
Among the key changes in Version 2 is the inclusion of additional guidance to the “Emissions” topic under the Environmental pillar to describe the consideration of “relevance” in reporting Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions activities.
