Skadden is pleased to announce that Rafique Bachour has joined the firm as a partner in our global Antitrust/Competition Group, based in the firm’s Brussels office. Mr. Bachour brings deep global experience in merger control, regulatory strategy, investigations and compliance, as well as complex reviews under the European Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR).

Mr. Bachour has more than 25 years of experience advising global corporates; financial investors, including sovereign wealth funds and state-owned enterprises; and institutional clients on the antitrust and regulatory aspects of global M&A transactions, major joint ventures and high-stakes foreign investment deals. He manages highly complex, large-scale transactions that require a global regulatory and merger-control strategy and coordinates multijurisdictional defenses in international investigations and ensuing litigation.
“Rafique is a prominent and high-caliber antitrust and competition attorney with an exceptional blend of cross-border regulatory experience and strategic, business-oriented thinking,” said Skadden Executive Partner Jeremy London. “We have continued to grow in Brussels over the last few years, and his joining will further support our plans for the office and the wider global Antitrust/Competition Group.”
“As regulators across jurisdictions increase scrutiny of M&A and foreign investment, Rafique’s experience will further bolster our ability to continue to deliver the most sophisticated and integrated advice to our clients,” said Ryan Junck, global head of Skadden’s litigation/controversy practices. “With his proven track record of working on the most complex and large-scale global transactions and multijurisdictional investigations, Rafique is a natural fit for Skadden.”
David Wales, head of Skadden’s global Antitrust/Competition Group, added, “Rafique joins us at a pivotal time as our clients navigate an increasingly complex landscape of antitrust review of global companies. Continuing to expand our team with exceptional lawyers like Rafique will ensure we are primed to meet our clients’ evolving needs. We’re thrilled to welcome him to Skadden.”
“Skadden’s global reach and standing in the market create an exceptional platform to help clients navigate issues across sectors and jurisdictions. I look forward to working with the firm’s outstanding lawyers worldwide as we support clients facing increasingly intricate regulatory, investigative and geopolitical challenges,” Mr. Bachour said.
Mr. Bachour joins Skadden from another global law firm. Fluent in English, Arabic and French, he also lectures at King’s College.
