Recently, JunHe assisted Wabo Technology in completing its angel round financing. This round of financing was co-invested by Vertex Ventures (a subsidiary of Singapore’s Temasek), Hongtai Fund, Chengdu Future Industry Fund under Chengdu Science and Technology Investment Group and Huifengda Capital.
Founded in 2025, Wabo Technology is an innovation-driven company focused on the research and application of non-invasive brain-computer interface technology. The company’s founder, Zhang Xingzhi, has a Ph.D. from Tsinghua University and leads a core team of professionals with average ages under 30, who all have both a geek spirit and full-stack capabilities. The team brings together research strengths in brain-computer interfaces, neural engineering and neural intent with qualifications from universities such as Tsinghua University, Fudan University and Tianjin University. Wabo Technology is committed to building a neural intent model—integrating EEG, EMG, behavior, vision, device status and execution results within clear task, environment and time contexts. Their aim is to determine user goals, action tendencies, confirmations, corrections, stops and takeover intentions and translating them into standardized ‘intent vectors’ that machines can understand. These provides goals, boundaries and feedback for VLA, world models and robotic control strategies. As one of Chengdu’s ‘brain-computer twin star’ enterprises, Wabo Technology is rapidly advancing the industrial application of non-invasive brain-computer interface technology in embodied intelligence, commercial aerospace, medical rehabilitation and smart homes.
JunHe served as Wabo Technology’s special legal advisor and provided comprehensive legal support throughout the process. This included, but was not limited to, assisting the company in cooperating with investors on legal due diligence and leading the drafting, revision and review of all the transaction documents involved in this financing (such as capital increase agreements, shareholder agreements, company articles of association and supporting documents). They participated in multiple rounds of negotiations with investors and optimized the document terms to provide reliable legal support and assurance for the smooth progress and successful completion of the project.
The transaction structure design and execution of this project reflect the complexity and innovation of frontier technology financing in brain-computer interfaces. Wabo Technology’s pioneering ‘neural intent model’ breaks the traditional regulatory logic of brain-computer interfaces being limited to single hardware or medical devices. Its constructed ‘neural data entry—intent model—physical control—data feedback’ closed-loop ecosystem involves interdisciplinary intersections such as neural signal processing, artificial intelligence algorithms, edge inference and multi-terminal control. These pose new challenges for the legal definitions of data ownership, intellectual property protection scope and compliance boundaries. JunHe balanced the diverse interests of the state-owned capital, market-oriented funds and the founding team through a refined transaction term design and provided solid legal assurance for the financing and compliant operation of frontier technology enterprises.
