The SFC has published the findings of its fifth survey on Hong Kong’s hedge fund industry. The report, released on 30 March 2015, reflects data as at 30 September 2014.
The SFC reports the following major findings:
- Hedge fund AUM in Hong Kong reached USD 120.9bn, an increase of 39% from the amount reported in the previous survey two years ago;
- The number of hedge funds managed by SFC-licensed hedge fund managers increased to 778, up more than 15% since the last report;
- Capital allocation was focused on the Asia Pacific markets, which accounted for 63.9% of the total hedge fund AUM;
- 92% of hedge fund investors were from outside Hong Kong and most were institutional investors.
