Sheena Jacob, a leading intellectual property and technology lawyer in the region has joined Joyce A. Tan & Partners, with a view to enhancing its already highly reputed practice.

Sheena is known for her experience in intellectual property matters for multinational clients. Her wide-ranging practice includes advising on patent and trade mark protection, enforcement of intellectual property rights, data protection and privacy issues, advertising and digital media content, copyright and technology transfer. She is particularly adept at advising technology and life sciences companies, developing licensing strategies for exploiting intellectual property and advising on intellectual property portfolio management. Some of her briefs include managing government lobbying efforts and policy initiatives for clients to enhance protection of their intellectual property rights.
Sheena has been an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore since 1989 and an attorney, New York, USA since 1992. She is also a registered Singapore patent agent and is admitted to the roll of Solicitors in England & Wales.
Sheena is active in a number of organizations including Licensing Executives Society, where she has served on the Executive Committee in Singapore for the last 5 years. She is the immediate past President of LES Singapore (2013-2015). She is currently the Chair of the iTechlaw Singapore planning committee for the iTechlaw Asia Pacific conference in Singapore. She continues to serve as a committee member of INTA. She is also an active member of AmCham Singapore, having served as a Governor from 2012-2014.
Sheena obtained a Bachelor of Laws Second Class (Upper) in 1988 from the National University of Singapore and a Masters in Law (Trade Regulation) from the New York University School of Law in 1990.
Sheena has written numerous articles and is actively sought as a speaker at international conferences on intellectual property, privacy and technology. She has appeared on Asia Business News, MediaCorp and Channel NewsAsia programs on data protection and intellectual property issues. She is a contributing author to a number of publications including The Franchise Law Review and A Business Guide to Competition Law.

Sheena was formerly a partner at the Singapore office of an international law firm, where she headed the Singapore Intellectual Property group for many years and was also at the time of her departure the Asia-Pacific head for Privacy and Data Protection.
