Mourant Ozannes Hong Kong has been named a winner at the 2016 China Business Law Journal Awards.
The firm has won in the Aviation and Shipping category and will feature in a special report on the Awards in February.
The China Business Law Awards are based on hundreds of nominations received from China-focused corporate counsel and legal professionals around the world. In determining the winners, the nominations (and the justifications provided for each nomination) are considered carefully in combination with other factors, such as each firm’s landmark deals, cases and other notable achievements over the past year. The organisers also consulted widely with law firm clients and conducted a large number of interviews to ascertain the level of satisfaction with the services provided by each firm.
In addition to leading corporate and investment funds practices, the Mourant Ozannes team in Hong Kong, led by Partner Paul Christopher, has built a niche asset finance practice as part of its broader finance offering. With a particular focus on aircraft and shipping, the practice has grown significantly over the past twelve months. In the Asian market, Mourant Ozannes has advised on over 40 aircraft finance transactions over the past 24 months alone, making it one of the leading offshore practices in the Asia Pacific region.
Paul Christopher said, “Mourant Ozannes has had an exceptional year; our Asian business has grown significantly over a relatively short period of time, with headcount tripling in size since opening in 2012. We recently promoted another Partner to our Finance practice and over the past 12 months, have made a significant number of strategic key hires to expand upon the firm's existing skills. We have built a solid reputation for expertise and local knowledge and we are delighted to be recognised with this important award and thank all those who contributed to this success.”
