Introduction
Important financial markets reform legislation was passed yesterday by the Australian Parliament.
The Financial System Legislation Amendment (Resilience and Collateral Protection) Bill makes a number of changes to various Australian financial markets laws, including changes to facilitate the introduction of margin requirements for uncleared derivatives.
The passage of the legislation through the Parliament will be warmly welcomed by financial markets participants.
