Global law firm Clyde & Co has entered into an association with Malaysian firm Shaikh David & Co.
The association will see Clyde & Co and Kuala Lumpur-based Shaikh David & Co refer work to each other, to provide a more integrated service for existing clients in Malaysia, and internationally, across key sectors such as insurance, construction and infrastructure, transportation, natural resources and energy.
The association will also enable Shaikh David & Co to gain access to Clyde & Co's network of nearly 50 offices and associated offices and expertise around the world. Clyde & Co and Shaikh David & Co will also work together on key marketing and business development activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
Shaikh David & Co is a partnership between Shaikh Abdul Saleem and James P. David, which offers insurance and reinsurance, banking and insolvency, shipping and offshore and general litigation legal services in Malaysia. It is ranked in leading legal directories, including Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500.
Malaysia is one of the largest economies in Southeast Asia and an increasing focus for international business.
Clyde & Co has been working with Malaysian clients for many years, and in recent times has developed a strong working relationship with Shaikh David & Co. James P. David was previously a lawyer at Clyde & Co in Singapore and London, and the firm has regularly referred Malaysian-related work to him and his colleagues.
Ik Wei Chong, Clyde & Co Managing Director, Asia says of the association: "This is a wonderful development with our former colleague James and his partner Saleem. The association will provide us with the opportunity to grow our Malaysian client base and work – and allows us to extend our global client relationships."
James P. David adds: "Through this formal association with Clyde & Co we are focused on bringing enhanced legal support to clients in Malaysia and abroad."
