One of India’s largest and leading full service law firm, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, has inducted Bharat Vasani as a corporate partner of the firm, to be based out of the Mumbai offices with immediate effect.
Prior to joining Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Bharat Vasani was Legal Advisor to Tata Group Chairman, having also in his earlier role been Chief Legal & Group General Counsel of Tata Sons Ltd, the holding company of Tata Group.
Bharat has over 30 years of experience at senior management level, and has successfully built and managed the in-house legal departments of large multinationals. Bharat has been at the helm of and steered several large key M&A transactions pursued by the Tata Group in the last 17 years. Bharat is also highly regarded in Government circles and in various industry organizations for his proactive approach on public policy issues.
Bharat’s areas of specialization include Company law, corporate and commercial laws, securities law, capital market transactions, M&A transactions, JVs, Competition Law, Employment Law and property matters.
Bharat’s contribution to the legal fraternity has been most recently uniquely recognized by the Harvard Law School’s Award for Professional Excellence, 2016. Bharat has the proud honour of winning several awards, including the IFLR Award 2010 and several Legal Era Awards.
He is presently the Chairman of the Legal Affairs and IPR Committee of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is also a member of CII’s Regulatory Affairs Committee.
In 2010, Bharat has successfully completed his ‘Leadership in Corporate Counsel Course’ from the Harvard Law School and the M&A Training Course in 2017 from the Harvard Business School. Bharat also holds a First Class Bachelor's degree in Commerce and First Class First Bachelor's degree in Law from the Mumbai University. Bharat is also a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and was awarded the President’s Medal for securing the First Rank in the Company Secretaries examination.

Earlier this month, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas had created the ‘Corporate Governance Centre’ to be led by 1976-batch IAS officer and Former SEBI Chairman, Mr. U. K. Sinha having joined us as “Senior Advisor” to be based out of our New Delhi offices.
