Compared to Q4 2016, the total number (21,244) of trademark applications in Q4 2017 increased 0.4%.
Among them, domestic applications (14,957) decreased 3% and foreign applications (6,287) increased 8%.
In full-year 2017, TIPO received a total of 83,802 trademark applications, the highest annual amount over the past five years.
By nationality of foreign applicants, mainland China (4,830) ranked first, followed by Japan (3,892), U.S.A. (3,684), Hong Kong (1,579) and Korea (1,521).
