The new Myanmar Companies Law 2017 will come into force on August 1, 2018, substantially reforming how companies—both domestic and foreign—do business in Myanmar. Our recent summary of the new Myanmar Companies Law provides an overview of these reforms.
In advance of the reforms, the Department of Investment and Company Administration recently announced the launch of its new digital corporate registry, “Myanmar Companies Online” (MyCo), which will become active on August 1. It is intended to replace the old corporate registration system entirely by early 2019.
As a result, all entities registered in Myanmar prior to August 1, 2018, must re-register on the MyCo registry between August 1, 2018, and January 31, 2019.
