We are pleased to announce the induction of Ms. Asma Hamid, Advocate Supreme Court, as a Partner of RIAA Barker Gillette, Pakistan. Ms. Hamid will head the litigation team at the Lahore office of RIAA Barker Gillette.
Prior to joining RIAA Barker Gillette, she was the Advocate General for the Province of Punjab. She has the unique distinction of being the first woman to hold the post of Advocate General in Pakistan’s history. She has represented the Province and Government of Punjab in the Lahore High Court and its Benches in Punjab, Islamabad High Court, Federal Shariat Court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan. She has provided advice to the Chief Minister of Punjab on an extensive range of policy matters including energy, education, health, criminal matters, prosecution reforms, security, State land resumption, agricultural laws reforms and service matters.
Ms. Hamid regularly advises clients in respect of corporate and commercial laws comprising reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts, general advice, opinions, due-diligence, structuring and leading complex and high value transactions. She has carried out extensive work in the areas of public and private sector projects, contracts, joint ventures, banking and finance laws, capital markets and securities laws, foreign investment, insurance laws, construction and real estate laws, employment and labour laws, energy, water and environmental laws.
