Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow fielded a multi-disciplinary team for this deal, and advised across practice areas on all aspects of the transaction including fund structuring and formation, restructuring and establishment of the joint venture fund management platform, M&A, licensing and regulatory, tax structuring, employment and corporate secretarial.
The team was led by Principal Derek Kwan who was supported by Associates Jens Carle and Wei Sheng Lau. Other team members involved were Principal Dawn Quek and Associate Enoch Wan who advised on the tax aspects and Local Principal Eunice Tan who advised on the regulatory aspects.
"With this first closing of the SEA Fund I, we are very excited to continue our ongoing work with Eastbridge Partners. The process has been dynamic and reflects the market demand of investors who are seeking opportunities in this region's mid-market space," said Derek.
This transaction and SEA Fund I is an important milestone for the EastBridge Partner Group as it marks a major expansion into the Southeast Asia private equity space.
