Baker McKenzie is proud to have been recognized as winner of the award for Wellness Initiative of the Year at this year's Australian Law Awards.
The award acknowledges Baker McKenzie's commitment to the wellbeing of our people, and our efforts to integrate mental and physical wellbeing into the legal profession's concept of success.
"Even before the onset of the pandemic, our Firm had set out to weave wellbeing into all of our activities and interactions," said Anthony Foley, Baker McKenzie's Australian Managing Partner. "Resilience can be cultivated, and must be supported. We are especially proud that our efforts to do so have enabled us to support our people through this difficult time."
The Firm's wellness initiatives are based on an understanding that individuals have different needs and requirements for support. We have taken a holistic approach to wellbeing, incorporating a variety of events, newsletters, resources for support, along with regular scheduled catch-ups between our junior and senior people.
This approach reflects the common theme that has informed our strategy: connection.
"We want to ensure that our people feel a sense of connection to each other, and to the community more broadly," said Anne-Marie Allgrove, partner at Baker McKenzie and Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee of Baker McKenzie Australia. "We know that achieving that requires many different activities and approaches, and we have activated our people — and their talents, creativity and energy — to that end."
The Firm extends a heartfelt thanks to the individuals who contributed to the efforts that have been recognized by this award.
