Bird & Bird’s marketing leading reputation for “Data” has been recognised in Who’s Who Legal’s annual analysis of Data Privacy & Protection, Data Security, Information Technology and Telecoms & Media, with more individuals recommended as industry leaders than any other firm globally.
Our capabilities in specialist industries were also acknowledged, with two commendations for FinTech and a further four commendations in the inaugural review of the international Space & Satellites market.
A number of lawyers were singled out for individual praise as “global leaders” in their field:
Roger Bickerstaff was described as a “long-standing specialist” who impresses sources with his “expertise in the area of AI and law and other cutting-edge topics within IT”. Graeme Maguire was praised for his “impressive regulatory and transactional expertise”, which included “complex communications and technology-based projects.” Frédérique Dupuis-Toubol was acknowledged as a “revered practitioner with over 25 years of experience in the telecoms industry and possesses in-depth regulatory insights”. Ruth Boardman is “simply excellent” with “unrivalled knowledge of data privacy and GDPR law”. Graham Smith comes highly commended for his “impressive knowledge of internet and regulatory law”.
Marjolein Geus was acclaimed as a “telecoms guru”, who is “excellent in telecoms regulatory litigation.” Paul Waszink was described as a “telecoms regulatory expert with an excellent network and knowledge of the Dutch regulatory authorities.” Jeroen van der Lee was “commended for his fantastic work assisting on complex IT related-dispute resolution as well as advising on artificial intelligence and big data”. Roelien van Neck is “well known for her superb work on IT-related commercial matters.”

Stephane Leriche was complimented on his strong expertise in the tech and communications space, most notable when it comes to high-profile transactions and strategic partnerships. Ariane Mole is highlighted for her “strong expertise in data protection” and “regularly advises multinationals on GDPR compliance and cyber security matters”.
Finland
Tobias Bräutigam receives widespread praise as a “sensational data protection specialist” who regularly advises Finnish and international companies on data transfers and GDPR compliance. For Information Technology, Sakari Halonen enjoys a “strong reputation” as “one of the best and most visible practitioners in the Finnish market”. Pekka Takki was also mentioned as a “long-standing figure in the market who is renowned as a “tech law guru” thanks to his deep-seated knowledge on matters related to technology and ICT”.
Denmark
Martin von Haller Gronbaek has a “stellar reputation for his two decades of experience advising clients in emerging industries on e-commerce and IT security issues. Martin was also commended as “a dedicated lawyer with strong tech capabilities.” within FinTech. Lau Normann Jorgensen enjoys a “great reputation in the Danish market” and is “well known for assisting domestic and international clients in the tech space on technology and outsourcing projects.”
Sven-Erik Heun considered “one of the best in telecoms law” was also praised for his work within Space & Satellites for “his grasp of complex technological matters and experience across regulation and commercial contracts.”
