Washington – February 26, 2021:
Washingtonian named Ambassador Robert Holleyman, a partner in Crowell & Moring’s International Trade and Privacy and Cybersecurity groups and president and CEO of Crowell & Moring International, to the 2021 list of “Washington’s Most Influential People.” The list features innovators and thought leaders in D.C. with “deep subject-matter knowledge, the ones who understand the nuances and complexities of how and where laws affect business, government, and society—the ones who are going to be maintaining that knowledge no matter who gets voted in or voted out of office.”
Holleyman advises clients on a range of trade and investment issues, including market access, global trade negotiations, tariffs, cross-border data flows, and privacy/cybersecurity, among other matters. During the COVID-19 pandemic, as supply chains and global trade remain weakened from the pandemic, Holleyman and the International Trade Group have worked closely with companies and industry on how best to move forward under rapidly changing circumstances.
Prior to joining the firm, Holleyman served as Deputy United States Trade Representative during the Obama-Biden administration. In that role, Holleyman was responsible for U.S. trade and investment relations with Asia and with regional institutions, including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. He led USTR’s negotiations with China, including the work of the annual Joint Committee on Commerce and Trade and with India through the U.S.-India Trade Policy Forum. In addition, Holleyman was responsible for global trade policy in the areas of services, investment, intellectual property, and innovation.
Washingtonian’s editorial staff compiles the list, selecting those in areas they felt the new administration and Congress would focus on for the next few years. According to the publication, they aimed to “highlight people who have significant influence over policy, the stuff that shapes our country.”
