What we do
EC’s Data Science and Quantitative Analytics team works primarily in the litigation and investigation space, providing quantitative support for expert witnesses. We assist attorneys and clients in their efforts to show the judge or jury the simple fact patterns that are hidden in complex data. Often these fact patterns are shown through simple charts or diagrams and sometimes they are shown using complex infographics like the tripartite network graph shown below.

Working across FTI
We frequently combine forces on large, complex matters with other segments at including FLC, GRIP, Corporate Finance, and Health Solutions.
Case Example
In a recent financial litigation where EC and Corporate Finance offered three experts at trial, our team worked with professionals from FLC, Compass Lexecon and Corporate Finance to rebut Plaintiff’s three damages experts who were asking for damages in excess of $1.6 billion. Plaintiffs’ experts performed a complex times series regression model that attempted to predict stock prices over a period of nine years. The damage calculations incorporated complex financial concepts such as market capitalization, auto-regressive and cointegration time series analyses, private equity performance fee calculations, industry comparables, share repurchases, float determinations, enterprise value vs market value and AUM calculations. The litigation settled during trial after testimony was given from several high-profile witnesses.
