Morrison & Foerster partner and global chair of the Private Equity group, Marcia Ellis, is quoted in an article “Investors likely to cheer clarity on VIE companies as China unveils requirements on offshore IPOs” published by the South China Morning Post on December 27, 2021.
The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) stated in a draft released on December 24, 2021, that it allows companies to sell shares overseas as long as they register their plans with regulators.
Marcia Ellis, Morrison & Foerster partner and global chair of the Private Equity group, suggested that the CSRC may be levelling the playing field between the United States and Hong Kong by barring non-compliant companies from listing overseas.
