Withersworldwide recently represented Deutsche Bank, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank and MUFG Bank on their provision of a sustainability linked loan for hyperscale data centre specialist, AirTrunk, that set several industry benchmarks.
The loan is the first data centre sustainability linked loan in Japan and will be used to finance a major expansion of AirTrunk’s flagship data centre facility in Japan, AirTrunk TOK1 (TOK1) in Inzai, Chiba Prefecture.
Partners Gerald Fujii and Naoki Ueyama in Japan led the deal with support from associate Ryokei Abe and paralegal Chieko Fukui.
AirTrunk is expanding its data centre platform in Japan as demand for hyperscale digital infrastructure grows. TOK1’s expansion includes a new 55 MW building on a campus of over 300 MW to meet the needs of large-scale technology customers.
For Withers this is the second collaboration with AirTrunk following the first Green Loan financing in Japan in September 2022.
