Bird & Bird is pleased to announce that our Budapest office received the 2022 Deal of the Year – Hungary award at the CEE Deal of the Year Awards, an event organised by CEE Legal Matters, the leading publication for Europe’s emerging legal markets. Hosted in Istanbul on 25 April 2023, the prestigious awards were presented for outstanding deals concluded in Central and Eastern Europe and to celebrate excellence in the legal profession in the region. This was the second year in a row that our Budapest office received an award in recognition of its accomplishments.
The Deal of the Year award in Hungary was given to Stellantis’ acquisition of aiMotive, a leading developer of advanced artificial intelligence and autonomous driving software. Bird & Bird advised the buyer on the IP law aspects of the transaction. Its core team consisted of partner Bálint Halász, Head of IP in Hungary and co-Head of the office, partner and co-Head of office Pál Szabó, patent attorney Miklós Tar, senior associates Ádám Simon and Dária Szabó, associate Eszter Gál and junior associate Anna Luca Braun.

CEE Legal Matters’ Deal of the Year Awards celebrate transactions that are critical for the growth of the Central and Eastern European region and which represent outstanding achievements for the legal industry. The awards are exclusively peer-selected, and legal experts in each jurisdiction are involved in the selection of the nominees and winners.
The Budapest team previously represented OTP on its acquisition of Nova Kreditna Banka Maribor, a transaction that won the 2021 Deal of the Year award in Slovenia.
