Crowell & Moring was honored for its 20thyear of sponsoring Cristo Rey Jesuit High School’s Corporate Work Study Program in Chicago. Fifteen milestone sponsors were honored at ¡VIVA!, Cristo Rey’s annual gala on May 4. The event raises funds for financial aid for students, extracurricular programming, and faith formation.
“We have been honored to serve as a corporate sponsor for Cristo Rey for the past 20 years,” said Andrew Avsec, managing partner of Crowell’s Chicago office. “One of our firm’s core values is contributing to the communities around us. We are proud to be a longstanding sponsor of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School’s extraordinary contribution to the success of local students.”
Since 1996, Cristo Rey has served families with limited financial means who seek out a Jesuit, Catholic, and college preparatory education for their children. Serving 552 students from 29 zip codes across Chicago’s Southwest Side, Cristo Rey creates unique opportunities for a community that still experiences great need. The Corporate Work Study Program enables students to earn approximately 70% of their annual tuition by working one day a week at an entry-level position for a corporation or nonprofit agency across the Chicago area. By collaborating with more than 140 Chicago businesses, this program allows students to develop high-level social and professional skills, plus four years of job experience, before entering college.
