1. Hi Constantin, tell us the story behind Fynk.
The idea for Fynk was born in late 2021, during a retreat in the serene Dolomites. My Co-founder Dominik and I were reflecting on our entrepreneurial journey — a path that had seen us previously build, scale, and successfully exit a SaaS business. Along the way, we’d experienced firsthand the frustrations of managing legal documents without the right tools: endless email chains, version confusion, and countless wasted hours. We realised this wasn’t just our struggle—it was a widespread problem faced by teams everywhere. And so, the seed for Fynk was planted.
Determined to tackle this challenge head-on, we decided to dive back into the startup world. In April 2022, we officially founded Fynk, with Markus, a trusted partner from our previous ventures, joining us to complete our core founding team. With shared experience and a unified vision, we set out to build a platform that could truly transform how businesses manage their legal workflows.
For too long, legal documents have remained static, complicated, and often overwhelming. Traditional contract management tools are typically expensive and designed for large legal teams, leaving non-legal teams to struggle with inefficient workarounds. We saw an opportunity to change that. At Fynk, we’re making enterprise-level legal tools accessible to all businesses. By leveraging AI and innovative technology, we’ve reimagined the entire process of handling legal documents. It’s not just about efficiency — it’s about creating an experience that teams genuinely enjoy.
From the very beginning, we knew that our success would depend on building the right team. As our team grew, we surrounded ourselves with people who shared not only our vision but also our history – many of whom we had the pleasure of working with before. This trust and familiarity allowed us to move quickly and stay aligned in our mission. What started as an idea in the Dolomites has grown into something far greater. Fynk is more than a tool; it’s a smarter, simpler way to work with legal documents.
2. What are the services or products that Fynk provides?
At Fynk, we believe every company should have access to tools that make managing legal documents intuitive, efficient, and affordable. As you now know we couldn’t find a service that checked all these boxes, so we decided to create it ourselves – a cloud-based, all-in-one platform that changes how businesses of all sizes handle contracts.
Fynk empowers users to manage contracts from draft to renewal—whether it’s through AI-based data extraction, digital signatures, or tracking deadlines and commitments with automatic reminders. Imagine having complete full-text search capabilities at your fingertips, no longer scouring your inbox for a specific document that you know exists but just can’t find. With Fynk, locating any clause or agreement becomes effortless. And when it’s time to ensure compliance or flag specific criteria? Customisable automatic checks make it possible with just one click.
Contracts often pass through many hands, so we designed Fynk with collaboration at its core. The platform enables internal and external stakeholders to work seamlessly together in one place — from negotiating terms to finalising agreements—eliminating the chaos of scattered tools.
Even smaller teams can now access advanced contract management capabilities that were once reserved for larger enterprises. Fynk isn’t just software; it’s a smarter, more cohesive way to manage legal documents.
3. How does the above optimise the daily operations of an in-house legal team/ law firm?
In-house legal teams and law firms often juggle dozens of tasks — managing multiple contracts, ensuring deadlines are met, maintaining compliance, and collaborating across departments. Fynk simplifies these processes by centralising everything in one platform, turning what was once a fragmented workflow into a streamlined operation.
For example, AI-based data extraction automates time-consuming tasks like reviewing contract details or pulling key terms, allowing legal professionals to focus on strategic decisions rather than repetitive administrative work. Full-text search ensures that no clause or agreement is ever out of reach, saving hours of frustration and improving response times in high-pressure situations.
Automatic reminders for deadlines and renewals prevent costly oversights, while customisable checks ensure compliance with internal policies or external regulations, all with minimal effort. Fynk also fosters collaboration by providing a shared workspace where teams can negotiate, edit, and Fynk finalise contracts together, reducing bottlenecks and miscommunication.
By consolidating these tools into one cohesive platform, Fynk not only saves time and resources but also empowers legal teams to operate more proactively. Whether you’re an in-house counsel managing multiple agreements or a law firm delivering services to clients, Fynk becomes the backbone of a more efficient, effective, and modern legal operation.
4. What do you believe will be the most significant change in how in-house legal teams use technology in the next 10 years?
In the coming decade, legal teams will experience a profound transformation in how they leverage technology. A thoughtful blend of human expertise and automation will redefine how they operate and collaborate with operational teams.
Historically, legal teams were focused on interpreting laws and regulations, often quite far away from the day-to-day realities of the businesses they support. But advancements in AI and related technologies are closing that gap.
Lawyers will spend more time on high-impact work — like tackling complex, one-off issues or staying ahead of changes in their field — while repetitive tasks, such as applying standard guidelines, following predefined rules, or building on approved language, are increasingly handled by AI.
This combination of AI and human input offers significant benefits. AI brings efficiency, consistency, and scalability, while lawyers ensure decisions are context-aware and grounded in expertise. For example, tools that incorporate dynamic templates and AI-driven recommendations, similar to what we’re doing at Fynk, will make it easier for legal teams to deliver quick, reliable solutions to the teams they support, cutting down on bottlenecks.
On a broader level, the rise of AI and the capabilities to interpret what happens in the business world at a larger scale will lead to greater transparency in how legal frameworks are applied in real-world settings. That transparency will hopefully enable policymakers to refine regulations to meet the needs of businesses and society in general.
Ultimately, I guess you could say the lawyers of the future will have a hybrid role, moving them away from being perceived as gatekeepers and positioning them as partners who help organisations work smarter and faster, while staying more connected to the people they serve.
