1. Hi Michael, tell us the story behind LexisNexis

LexisNexis® Legal & Professional has a long-standing legacy of innovation. We were one of the first companies to digitise legal information in the 1970s, launching what was then known as LEXIS, an electronic legal research system. Since then, we’ve evolved into a global data and analytics company, with over 11,800 employees serving customers in more than 150 countries and regions.

Our mission is to advance the rule of law around the world. We do this by delivering powerful decision tools and analytics, applying technologies like machine learning, natural language processing, and artificial intelligence to our vast legal and news databases. As part of RELX, we support legal professionals in making faster, more informed decisions, while also contributing to a more just and transparent society.

In Hong Kong, we are proud to support the legal community with trusted, locally relevant content and cutting-edge technology that enhances legal research, drafting, and compliance.

2. What are the services or products that LexisNexis provides?

In Hong Kong, we offer a comprehensive suite of legal solutions tailored to the needs of local practitioners. Our flagship platform, Lexis+®, delivers powerful legal research, drafting, and analytical capabilities, all grounded in authoritative, proprietary local legal content.

We’ve also recently launched Lexis+ AI™, an integrated solution that combines our proprietary search technology with a personalised AI assistant – LexisNexis Protégé. This tool enables conversational search, intelligent summarisation, legal drafting, and document upload capabilities. Importantly, all results are backed by verifiable, citable sources, and the platform is built with state-of-the-art encryption and privacy technology to ensure data security.

Our goal is to provide an integrated ecosystem that supports every aspect of legal work, from research and drafting to compliance and knowledge management.

3. How does the above optimise the daily operations of an in-house legal team/law firm?

Our solutions are designed to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and strategic decision-making. For example, Lexis+ AI significantly reduces the time lawyers spend searching for relevant case law or drafting legal documents. The platform’s ability to summarise and analyse content quickly allows legal professionals to focus on higher-value work.

For in-house teams, this means faster turnaround times, better risk management, and more informed decision-making. For law firms, it translates into improved client service, streamlined workflows, and greater productivity. Ultimately, we help legal teams adapt to the fast-changing legal landscape with tools that are both powerful and easy to use.

4. What do you believe will be the most significant change in how in-house legal teams use technology in the next 10 years?

We believe the most transformative change will be the widespread adoption of AI-powered legal assistants. Our vision is for every legal professional to have a personalised AI agent, starting with Protégé, that understands their preferences, anticipates their needs, and helps them work more efficiently.

These AI assistants will reduce time spent on routine tasks like document drafting, contract analysis, and legal research, while improving the quality and consistency of legal work. Importantly, our AI is developed responsibly, with expert human oversight and robust privacy protections.

As AI adoption accelerates, legal teams will increasingly rely on these tools to drive productivity and deliver greater value. However, trust remains a key factor, especially in areas like data security and accuracy. That’s why LexisNexis is committed to building secure, transparent, and reliable AI solutions that legal professionals can depend on.

Our global technology platform is designed to integrate each wave of AI innovation, from extractive AI to generative and now agentic AI, ensuring our customers always have access to the most advanced and trusted tools available.

As part of LexisNexis’ commitment to innovation in the legal sector, a limited trial of Lexis+ AI with Protégé is available for legal professionals in Hong Kong. To learn more, click here.
