LegalTech Soapbox: Improve Your Daily Operations With MATTEROOM.

1. Hi Steven, tell us the story behind MATTEROOM.

MATTEROOM was created to solve a common frustration in LegalTech: high costs, fragmented tools, and lengthy implementation cycles. Too many platforms promise comprehensive solutions but rely on third-party add-ons and consultants to deliver basic functionality, driving complexity and expense.

We built MATTEROOM to change that. It is a modern, unified platform that simplifies timekeeping, billing, and matter management—without the overhead. Our goal is to provide law firms and legal teams with the power of enterprise tools, combined with the speed and simplicity of SaaS.

2. What are the services or products that MATTEROOM provides?

  • MATTEROOM– a modern legal practice & finance management system for law firms, integrating conflict check, timekeeping, expense management, billing, profit sharing, and financial reporting. It seamlessly integrates the most popular SaaS solutions, such as M365, Google Workspace, iManage Work, and NetDocuments, to deliver best practices in document management, case management, and collaboration.
  • MIRA – our AI timekeeping assistant, designed to automatically capture user activities from Outlook, Teams, Word, iManage Work, NetDocuments, and other tools to generate time entries with remarkable accuracy.
  • MATTERLINQ – tailored for corporate legal teams, this solution streamlines internal legal operations through automated eBilling, compliance-ready vendor management, and centralised legal spend tracking.

All of our products are cloud-based, built for cross-platform use (including Mac and Windows), and offer deep integrations with leading tools such as iManage, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Teams.

3. How does the above optimise the daily operations of an in-house legal team/ law firm?

By unifying siloed tools and eliminating the need for manual entry, MATTEROOM significantly reduces the administrative burden on legal professionals.

  • Lawyers save hours each week with MIRA’s AI-powered time capture.
  • Billing teams gain clarity and speed with automated invoice generation and expense tracking.
  • General Counsel and legal operations teams gain greater control and clarity over legal spend and vendor relationships with MATTERLINQ’s built-in eBilling and compliance features, helping them meet the evolving demands of the business with precision.

Our goal is straightforward: to enable legal professionals to focus on high-value work, rather than navigating systems or tracking time.

4. What do you believe will be the most significant change in how in-house legal teams use technology in the next 10 years?

The most significant shift will be from tool overload to intelligent unification. Legal teams are drowning in too many apps that don’t talk to each other. The next decade will usher in platforms that feel invisible—where AI quietly assists, where systems integrate seamlessly, and where data becomes actionable. At MATTEROOM, we’re already seeing that transformation begin—with tools like MIRA leading the way. The winners in LegalTech will be those who simplify, connect, and empower.
