Mr. Fider assists foreign and local clients in the fashion, sportswear, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, lubricants, house ware, electrical appliance, music and food chain industries in the protection and enforcement of their intellectual property (IP) rights in the Philippines. He has advised international organizations including the EC-ASEAN Intellectual Property Cooperation Program (ECAP II), the Japan Export Trade Organization and the International Rice Research Institute. He is consistently cited in prestigious publications including Chambers and Partners, Managing IP and Asia IP as a leading Philippine IP lawyer. He is the Head of the Intellectual Property Department of ACCRALAW.

 

Among his practice areas are: Intellectual Property, Licensing, E-commerce, Technology & Science, Internet Law.

 

He obtained his Master of Laws (1990) degree in the subject grouping Commercial and Corporate Law from Queen Mary and Westfield College (now Queen Mary College), University of London where he read Industrial and Intellectual Property Law, Information Technology Law, International Trade Law and Commercial Conflicts of Law. He received his Bachelor of Laws (1986) and Bachelor of Arts (1982) degrees from the University of the Philippines.

 

His scholarly works include the Philippine Chapters of the authoritative textbooks – (1) “Intellectual Property Law in Asia”; (2) “The Protection of Well-Known Marks in Asia”; (3) “Parallel Imports in Asia”; (4) “Copyright Law and the Information Society in Asia” and (5) “Enforcement of Patents.” These books were published by Kluwer Law International (London) as part of the Max Planck Series on Asian Intellectual Property Law. He teaches Intellectual Property Law at the De La Salle University College of Law.

 

He is former President of the Licensing Executive Society of the Philippines. He is an active member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and Co-Chair of APAA Academy. He is also a member of International Trademark Association (INTA), the Intellectual Property Association of the Philippines and the British Alumni Association.

 

He is currently ranked as an IP Star in the fields of Trademarks and Patents by Managing IP Publication.
