Appleby is delighted to welcome new pupils Milaun Perott and Ryley Tannock to its two-year legal trainee programme. Both are former recipients of the Appleby Legal Education Scholarship.
The two-year trainee programme which provides pupils with training across the firm’s Corporate, Dispute Resolution and Private Client & Trusts departments involves three 4-month seats in the first year and one 12-month seat in the second year. Pupils are assigned a senior attorney as a mentor as they rotate seats. After completing three seats in the first year, trainees are called to the Bermuda Bar.
As Milaun and Ryley start their first year of training, Kinika Armstrong, Jeffrey Blair, and Ryann Hollis have moved to their second and final year of the firm’s coveted trainee programme. Additional trainees are planned for enrolment in the near future.
Milaun, who received the Appleby Legal Education Scholarship in 2021, interned with the firm in 2021 and 2022 within the Private Client & Trusts and Dispute Resolution teams, respectively. She completed both the Graduate Diploma of Law (GDL) and the Legal Practice Course (LPC) with Master of Law in Professional Legal Practice at The University of Law. Prior to that, Milaun obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from Ryerson University, majoring in Law and Business with a minor in Economics.
“Over the past two years, Appleby has provided me with every opportunity to excel in the legal field and has welcomed me with open arms into their firm,” Milaun commented. “I chose Appleby because of their tremendous support and their strong reputation for producing exceptional lawyers. I firmly believe Appleby can provide the tools to facilitate a solid foundation in my legal career. I look forward to the invaluable training I will receive from my colleagues and mentors.”
Ryley, who interned with the firm in 2022 in the Private Client & Trusts team, received the 2022 Appleby Legal Education Scholarship. He holds an LPC and a GDL from The University of Law. Prior to that, Ryley obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University with a double major in Criminology and Psychology.
“Undertaking my pupillage with Appleby was a decision based upon the combination of their pioneer status in the Bermuda legal services sector, its global presence and reputation, and robust training programme,” Ryley explained. “Having interned with the firm previously I know I shall be surrounded by admirable, steadfast individuals who are committed to my own personal growth and development as much as I am. I am confident that with the training I am to receive with Appleby I am in the best of hands to be moulded and developed into my full potential and in such I am off to a great start in my career. I am humbled to have joined the team.”
Brad Adderley, Bermuda Managing Partner, said: “We are pleased to welcome Milaun and Ryley to our trainee programme which has provided a first-class foundation for many lawyers in Bermuda, including myself more than 25 years ago, and other Appleby partners as well. I know Milaun and Ryley will be well equipped for success with the expert and focused mentorship they will receive. I wish them both fulfillment in their legal careers.”
