OffshoreAlert London provides attendees with the opportunity to meet 300+ senior stakeholders in high-value international finance from 20+ jurisdictions. Attendees will be kept up to date with emerging issues as well as attending cutting-edge sessions by leading speakers on evaluating opportunity, investigating entities, resolving disputes, obtaining funding, and recovering value.
Those in attendance from Appleby’s global Dispute Resolution team include Alan Bercow, Sebastian Said, David Lee, David Lewis-Hall and Susan Fallon (Cayman Islands), Mark Holligon (Isle of Man) and Andrew Willins (BVI).
Appleby Partners Andrew Willins and David Lee Willins will be taking part in an Offshore Asset Recovery Update alongside Angela Barkhouse, Managing Partner at Kroll and David Peters KC, Barrister at Essex Court Chambers. This session will provide an update of key points for all market participants and practitioners potentially involved in disputes where assets located offshore need to be recovered.
The panel session will take place at 4.30pm at the Wren: Nelson Street and will include insights from the Appleby team who acted on the recent Sian Participation case where the U.K.’s Privy Council considered the interaction between insolvency proceedings and arbitration where a winding up petition is founded on a debt which is subject to an arbitration agreement. That case declared the previous leading English authority, Salford Estates, wrongly decided and has important consequences for many offshore jurisdictions.
