Bird & Bird has strengthened its international Media, Entertainment and Sport group with the arrival of partner Brianna Quinn in Sydney. She joined the firm on 1 June 2023 and will be working closely with Bird & Bird’s Sydney and London offices.
With over a decade of experience at a leading international arbitration firm in Geneva, Switzerland, Brianna has advised and represented a wide range of international federations and other clients across various sports.
Brianna has significant expertise advising on sport regulatory, governance, and contentious matters, including (among others) anti-doping, anti-corruption and match-fixing, safeguarding, and sports governance and regulations. She has represented many clients before international sports tribunals, including the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Brianna also sits as a permanent arbitrator on the closed list of the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT), where she resolves contractual claims between international basketball stakeholders. Additionally, she is a member of the Ethics Board of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and a director of the Australian and New Zealand Sports Law Association (ANSZLA).
Brianna’s skills and experience as a sports lawyer with deep regulatory, governance, integrity, and disputes experience are highly complementary to Bird & Bird’s international Media, Entertainment and Sport group. With her joining the firm, Brianna (an Australian-qualified lawyer) makes Bird & Bird Sydney the largest dedicated sport practice in Australia, with a full-service offering for all sports commercial and regulatory/contentious matters, and further strengthens the London and wider international sport team. Her appointment therefore further enhances Bird & Bird’s top-ranked sport team’s ability to service clients on an international and cross-border basis.
