Appleby Bermuda Partner Hannah Tildesley will speak at the Transatlantic Wealth & Estate Planning conference taking place 13 September in New York City. This conference has a truly transatlantic focus and covers wealth and estate planning for US citizens or those who have financial interests in US assets.
The event will bring together international trusts experts across the US and Europe. Topics in the 2023 agenda include trusts, family issues, and tax and immigration.
Hannah will participate in the ‘Contentious trusts and litigation’ panel. The panel will discuss:
- Protectors and their decision making in the cross-hairs: recent cases
- ‘Sham’ and ‘illusory’ trusts post Pugachev
- Directed trusts US vs Anglo-offshore: recent cases and trends
- Use of data access requests and third-party disclosure applications to attack trusts and their professional advisers: lessons learned and best practice following Dawson-Damer and Gorbachev v Guriev
Hannah is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution team in the Bermuda office and the head of contentious trusts. She specialises in international commercial litigation with particular focus on banking and funds litigation, appraisal proceedings, director and shareholder disputes, and contentious trust disputes. Many of the matters in which she is instructed are multi-jurisdictional and frequently involve complex cross-border issues and conflict laws.
Hannah often works alongside leading onshore law firms and barristers. She also advises on litigation aspects of corporate deals, including governance issues, director duties and enforcement and insolvency considerations. Hannah is recognised by both Chambers and Legal 500 for her expertise and was named a ‘Next Generation Partner’ by Legal 500 in 2023. She is also recognised as a ‘Rising Star’ by the Private Client Global Elite Directory 2023.
