It is with great sadness that the partners and team at Appleby announce the passing of our friend and colleague, Liesl Richter.
Liesl who was a Partner in the Cayman Islands office peacefully passed away on Thursday 26th October.
Described as one of the brightest rising stars in her space, Liesl started her career with us as an Appleby scholarship recipient. She attended the University of Exeter where she obtained her law degree and started with us as an Articled Clerk in 2009. She became a Partner in 2019.
Her areas of practice included subscription finance, structured finance and she had a vast amount of experience in complex financing transactions. Liesl was a dedicated attorney who always put her clients first and she was an integral part of the firm’s success during her career. Caring and highly skilled, her passion for her work earned her countless accolades praising her abilities and work ethic. Her presence will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Liesl and her husband Brian welcomed the birth of their daughter Lyra in December last year and outside of work she was an advocate for the Happy Lungs Project and MS Foundation.
Thank you to all of those organisations and individuals who have sent messages of condolence. She was a much respected colleague and a friend to many and we are deeply saddened by her passing.
