True to its spirit of innovation and service rooted in passion, DivinaLaw continues to explore new legal frontiers through its first international free legal clinic—Dulog Legal in Chongqing, China.
Co-organized with the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing, the landmark event gathered 31 participants both online and on-site, including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and consulate personnel. The session drew teachers, engineers, and homemakers from Chongqing, Guizhou, and Yunnan, who sought practical guidance on legal matters relevant to life overseas.
Facilitated by Vice Consul Elroy Rendor, the activity opened with remarks from Consul General Hon. Ivan Frank Olea who introduced the Filipino community of Southwestern China.
The seminar featured a full lineup of talks led by DivinaLaw lawyers, covering topics that addressed the most common legal issues faced by Filipinos overseas, such as Protection of Employment, Contractual Rights, Taxation, Property Law and Commercial Contracts, Citizenship, Custody of Minor Children, Recognition of Foreign Divorce, Data Privacy, and Absentee Voting Rights.
Leading the initiative were Senior Partners Atty. Edwin C. Uy, Atty. Alden Francis C. Gonzales, and Atty. Gregorio Y. Larrazabal, together with Partners Atty. Mary Jude C. Marvel and Atty. Floro C. Balato, Jr. Joining them were Senior Associates Atty. Jennel L. Chu, Atty. Maria Carissa C. Guinto, and Atty. Joseph Lorenz A. Asuncion, and Associate Atty. Renz J. Ayongao.
After the plenary, attendees engaged in an open forum and individual consultations, where they received free legal advice directly from the firm’s lawyers. Each attendee also received a Dulog Legal tote bag as a token of appreciation.
The Chongqing clinic marks the 12th Dulog Legal since the program’s inception in 2022, and its first to be held overseas in a defining moment that reflects the firm’s growing commitment to empowering Filipinos wherever they may be.
Buoyed by the success of its first international leg, DivinaLaw is preparing to bring Dulog Legal to more overseas Filipino communities in the near future.
