The 7th IPTSE Awards & IP Conclave 2024 took place on November 19 at the India International Centre in Delhi, centred around the theme “Driving Economic Empowerment with IP in Global Trade.” This prestigious event focused on enhancing IP awareness through engaging panel discussions on critical topics, including the impact of industry-academia partnerships in fostering innovation and the importance of Geographical Indication (GI) protection for handlooms and handicrafts.
The event was honoured by the presence of Ms Justice Mini Pushkarna, Judge of the High Court of Delhi, as the Chief Guest, alongside Prof. (Dr.) Unnat P. Pandit, Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, who served as the Guest of Honour.
Ms. Malyashree Sridharan, Associate Partner at LexOrbis, delivered an address during the session on “Importance of Geographical Indications for Handlooms and Handicrafts.” She outlined the GI registration process, emphasising the need for detailed documentation, adherence to timelines, and the critical scrutiny involved. She also highlighted the vital role of GIs in empowering women and preserving cultural heritage.
Priya Mahajan, Associate Partner, IP analytics, LexOrbis, also participated, gaining valuable insights while connecting with fellow IP professionals and contributing to dynamic discussions on innovation and collaboration.
