Appleby counsel Katherine Garrood has been shortlisted in this year’s Citywealth Future Leaders Awards, under the Lawyer of the Year IFC – Partner category.
The Citywealth Future Leaders Awards highlight leaders under 40 in the wealth sector who excel at work and also make an important contribution to society.
Now a highly regarded regulatory and corporate lawyer, Katherine joined Appleby as a trainee in 2011 and was commissioned as an Isle of Man advocate in 2013 after being awarded a commendation in the Manx Bar Exams.
Katherine has worked on many high-profile deals at Appleby, including acting for Quilter PLC on the sale of its international life insurance business to Utmost and for RBSI on the transfer of the business of the Isle of Man Bank by way of court-sanctioned transfer scheme.
Katherine was Chair of the Isle of Man Wealth & Fund Services Association throughout the pandemic period, and continues to head its regulatory sub-committee. Most recently, Katherine has acted as a mentor on the Isle of Man Fintech Innovation Challenge.
Legal directories Chambers UK 2022 & 2023 and Chambers FinTech 2023 described Katherine as “gaining a strong reputation for her ability to advise clients on investment fund regulation” and “an expert in Isle of Man fintech regulatory work”.
