Linklaters has advised Turkiye Ihracat Kredi Bankasi A.S. (“Türk Eximbank”) on its equity investment in Africa Finance Corporation (“AFC”), the pan-African infrastructure-focused multilateral financial institution.
The investment by Türk Eximbank, AFC’s first non-African sovereign shareholder, aligns with the Republic of Türkiye’s strategic vision of fostering resilient and sustainable growth in Africa. The transaction will result in strengthened ties for Türkiye’s exporters and contractors on the continent, particularly within the 42 member countries of the AFC. Linklaters advised Türk Eximbank on the investment, together with Turkish law firm Özmen Yalçın.
Linklaters has been active on the African continent for over 50 years and has one of the leading Türkiye practices among international law firms. The Linklaters team was led by Daniel Cousens, supported by Managing Associate Mikhail Fufaev and Associate Nikolay Altukhov. Partner Simon Few and Managing Associate James Bowen advised Türk Eximbank on the financing aspects of the deal.
Daniel Cousens comments:
“We were happy to support TürkExim on this strategic investment.”
