We are pleased to announce the elevation of Mr. Lee Jee Yun and Mr. Muhamad Zuraidi Zulkifli as Partners at Azmi & Associates, effective April 1, 2025.
Lee Jee Yun obtained his LL.B (Hons) from Multimedia University and began his legal career at Messrs Teo & Chew, where he gained broad-based exposure to criminal, banking, and general litigation, handling matters such as bankruptcy, foreclosure, winding-up proceedings, civil claims, contractual disputes, estate distribution, probate and administration, will drafting, and divorce applications. Seeking to diversify his expertise, he later transitioned to Messrs Ting Asiah & Co. and Messrs Ghazi & Lim, specializing in conveyancing law, where he played a key role in structuring and negotiating property transactions, including developer sales, sub-sale agreements, loan documentation, tenancy and lease agreements, trust deeds, and powers of attorney, while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Since joining Azmi & Associates in 2019, Lee has been a key member of the Capital & Debt Markets Practice Group, advising on high-value corporate transactions, including debt and capital markets, project financing, and M&A. His extensive legal expertise, developed through engagements with GLCs, MNCs, and public-listed companies, has earned him successive promotions and a reputation as a trusted legal advisor.
Lee has acted in numerous notable transactions, including advising KPJ Healthcare Berhad in the sale and leaseback of three hospital properties to Al-`Aqar Healthcare REIT, representing Malakoff Corporation Berhad in its proposed acquisition of majority stakes in ZEC Solar Sdn Bhd and TJZ Suria Sdn Bhd, and advising Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Bhd (BHIC) in multiple debt settlements with financial institutions and Boustead Holdings Berhad. He also played a key role in Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad’s (MAHB) voluntary conditional take-over offer, and acted as Malaysian legal counsel in KNM Group Berhad’s successful sale of Borsig Group to Japan’s NGK Insulators Ltd., working alongside Clifford Chance (Frankfurt, Germany).
Zuraidi Zulkifli obtained his LL.B (Hons) from the International Islamic University Malaysia and later earned a Master of Commercial Law (LL.M) from the University of Malaya. He began his legal career at Azmi & Associates before joining the Attorney General’s Chambers as a Deputy Public Prosecutor, where he handled criminal prosecutions across various courts and was part of the prosecution team in a high-profile anti-money laundering and corruption case involving the former First Lady of Malaysia. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he received the Excellent Service Award in 2021.
Since rejoining Azmi & Associates, he has been instrumental in crafting high-impact litigation strategies, specializing in corporate and commercial disputes. His notable achievements include successfully defending a state government body in a defamation lawsuit filed by a public figure, securing a judgment in favor of a foreign airline company against a private airline for breaching a settlement agreement, obtaining a favorable judgment in a professional negligence case against a former solicitor, and achieving a positive outcome for a publicly listed company in a shareholder dispute. He has also represented individuals in land reference proceedings to claim compensation for land acquired by the Land Administrator for the East Coast Rail Link Project.
