Zul Rafique & Partners is pleased to announce the winners of the MLSN x Zul Rafique & Partners Legal Article Writing Competition 2025, organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Law Students’ Network (MLSN).
This competition brought together talented law students from across Malaysia to engage with critical constitutional law issues, particularly the doctrine of separation of powers and its evolving role in contemporary governance. The quality of submissions received was exceptionally high, reflecting strong analytical ability, depth of research, and thoughtful engagement with complex legal questions.
After a rigorous two-stage evaluation process, we are proud to present the winners:

Champion
Tan Guan You (IND044)
1st Runner-Up
Emir Erfanuriman bin A. Razak (IND053)
2nd Runner-Up
Low Pey Leigh (GRP017)
Ng Jie Ming (GRP017)
Following the conclusion of the competition, we had the pleasure of hosting the winners at our office for a prize presentation and engagement session.
The session began with an introduction to the firm and an overview of the opportunities available at Zul Rafique & Partners, followed by a brief office tour. The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates and cash prizes, officiated by our Managing Partner, Datuk Lukman Sheriff Alias, who also delivered a short address to the winners.
The engagement concluded with a networking session, where the winners had the opportunity to interact with our partners and lawyers, gaining valuable insights into legal practice and the profession.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Malaysian Law Students’ Network (MLSN) for their collaboration and efforts in organising this initiative.
At Zul Rafique & Partners, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that foster academic excellence, critical thinking, and meaningful engagement with the law. We are encouraged by the calibre of participants in this competition and look forward to continuing our collaboration with MLSN in nurturing the next generation of legal professionals.
