DivinaLaw Senior Partner Atty. Jay Layug recently moderated a panel discussion during the lecture “Nuclear Option” organized by the University of the Philippines School of Economics.
As the main speaker, Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary Sharon Garin discussed the history of the nuclear situation in the country and the government measures that are being undertaken to evaluate nuclear power as an alternative energy source.
Atty. Layug was joined on the panel by energy experts Dr. Carlo Arcilla, Director of the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, Mr. Paolo Pagaduan of Asian People’s Movement for Debt & Development, Engr. Froilan Savet, First Vice President and Head of Networks of MERALCO, Engr. Felino Bernardo, Head of Special Projects of Aboitiz Power, and Mr. Bienvenido Oplas Jr., a columnist of Business World.
Atty. Layug is a former undersecretary of the DOE. He co-heads DivinaLaw’s Energy practice group and is also co-chairman of the Renewable Energy Efficiency Committee of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.
