DivinaLaw Partner Atty. Floro C. Balato Jr. recently shared tips for identifying possible victims of human trafficking during the 2nd Seminar on Anti-Trafficking in Persons held in Pasay City organized by the Foreign Service Institute (FSI).
Attended by over 40 foreign service officers and government officials, the 2-day seminar featured speakers from the U.S. Embassy, the Australian Embassy, the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking, Department of Justice, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Bureau of Immigration. Also present during the seminar were FSI Director General Francisco Noel Fernandez III and FSI Executive Director Indhira Bañares.
Atty. Balato is the head of DivinaLaw’s Government Regulatory Compliance Group specifically, Immigration, Customs, and other regulatory agencies.
Prior to joining DivinaLaw, he was a senior immigration officer at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and served as BI spokesperson, chief of the BI Interpol Unit, and chief of BI’s Port Operations Division. He served as resource speaker, lecturer, and subject matter expert in hundreds of regional and domestic capacity-building seminars on immigration law, human trafficking, migrant smuggling, and international law enforcement cooperation.
