DivinaLaw Senior Partner Atty. Jay Layug is part of the Philippine business delegation accompanying President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in his ongoing presidential visit to Melbourne, Australia for the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit. The summit, slated from March 4 to March 6, brings together emerging leaders and experts to foster economic, climate and clean energy, and maritime cooperation efforts.
Atty. Layug was invited by Australia’s Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to attend the Special Summit in recognition of his expertise in Philippine energy. He attended the Climate and Clean Energy Transition Forum as Australia and ASEAN celebrated the 50th anniversary of its formal relationship.
He also took part in the Philippine Business Forum and Presentation of Business Agreements led by President Marcos. Further, he joined Southern Infrastructure Pty. Ltd.’s Managing Director Paul Watson as he signed the letter of intent to build a waste-to-energy renewable energy plant in the Philippines.
Atty. Layug is co-head of DivinaLaw’s Energy practice group. He also serves as Director of the Philippine Energy Research & Policy Institute, the think-tank of the Philippine government on energy policies.
