With the recent issue concerning pet owners’ liabilities and the victims’ rights, GMA’s Dapat Alam Mo has recently invited DivinaLaw Associate Atty. Renz J. Ayongao to share his expertise on the subject matter.
In the show’s Dapat Patas segment, Atty. Ayongao shared insights on the pet owners’ responsibilities and liabilities for the injuries and damages caused by their pet animals as outlined in the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007.
“[The responsibilities] include reporting to the authorities within 24 hours and covering all the victim’s medical expenses and other incidental expenses such as the caretaker’s lost income,” Atty. Ayongao explained.
He also discussed the penalties stipulated in the said Act and the different circumstances under which the pet owners can be held accountable.
