SyCipLaw’s Litigation and Arbitration Department recently held its Kapihan sa SyCipLaw titled “Dispute Resolution Management” at The Aurora Subic Hotel, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Olongapo City. The event brought together over 60 business leaders, legal and HR professionals, and senior executives involved in dispute management and strategic decision-making in their respective organizations.
Partner and Head of the Subic Branch Emmar Benjoe B. Panahon welcomed the participants and noted that the Kapihan session aims to provide practical insights into legal practice and strategies for effectively managing disputes.
Atty. Melvin L. Varias, Labor Department Manager and OIC-Deputy Administrator for Legal Affairs at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, delivered the keynote message and emphasized the value of being prepared to address potential disputes that businesses may encounter.
The seminar featured three focused sessions led by lawyers from the Firm’s Litigation and Arbitration Department, with Associates James Patrick L. Urquiola and Joanne Marie R. Valles hosting the program.
Senior Associate Jewelle Ann Lou P. Santos began the session with a presentation on arbitration, highlighting the advantages of and key considerations for choosing this mode of dispute resolution. Senior Associate Raymond Joseph S. Garcia followed with an overview of expedited procedures, particularly those involving small claims, outlining their scope and processes while sharing practical recommendations on handling and settling complaints efficiently. Special Counsel Austin Claude S. Alcantara concluded the sessions with a discussion on effective case management, case-building strategies, and filing considerations. Special Counsel Rosevee R. Paylip-Guiang shared additional insights after each presentation, offering practical examples and advice in the context of the Subic business environment.
The event allowed participants to engage directly with SyCipLaw lawyers and receive guidance on dispute management. Through the Kapihan series, the Firm continues to foster informed discussions on legal developments affecting businesses in the Philippines.
