SyCipLaw has been shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year – Philippines in the IFLR Asia Pacific Awards 2025. The Firm won the award in 2022 and 2023.
Two transactions handled by the Firm were also shortlisted in this year’s awards. These are the San Miguel Global Power (SMGP) senior perpetual securities for Debt and Equity-linked Deal of the Year and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project for Project Finance Deal of the Year.
In the SMGP transaction, SyCipLaw acted for the lead managers in connection with SMGP’s issuance of senior perpetual capital securities to fund pre-development costs of its solar energy projects. The SyCipLaw team was led Partner Aaron Roi B. Riturban, together with Senior Associates Kristina Paola P. Frias and Rose Ann Joy V. Gonzales, and Associates Paolo Gabriel P. Bautista, Patricia E. Ramos, and John Matthew D. Ruiz. Other advisers involved in the transaction included A&O Shearman, Latham & Watkins, and Picazo Buyco Tan Fider & Santos.
In the NAIA PPP project, SyCipLaw represented a consortium of lenders that provided secured term loan facilities for the rehabilitation and expansion of the country’s main international airport. The SyCipLaw team was headed by Senior Partner Vicente D. Gerochi IV, together with Senior Associates Loubelle L. Razon-Bagagnan and Julia Patricia C. Herrera-Lim, and Associates Ma. Carina Theresa G. Guanio, and John Dominic P. Censon. Other advisers involved in the transaction included Lee & Ko and Picazo Buyco Tan Fider & Santos.
