Associate solicitor Rubena (Ruby) Rahman of commercial law firm Hill Dickinson has been named as one of 30 young people across Leeds and West Yorkshire to win recognition as a future leader in her chosen profession.
The winners of the inaugural Leeds & West Yorkshire Top 30 Under 30 were announced on Thursday 21 March 2024, with a formal celebration event taking place later this year.
Now, Ruby Rahman, along with her fellow 30 under 30 winners, will embark on a prestigious year-long training programme designed to recognise exceptional young business talent in the area and equip the cohort with leadership skills and ongoing professional development. The programme, run in line with LEAP, the Leadership Excellence Acceleration Programme, will culminate in a prestigious awards ceremony at the end of the year.
Speaking about her win, Ruby said:
“I am absolutely delighted to be recognised as a winner in the first ever Top 30 Under 30 awards in Leeds and West Yorkshire. Since joining Hill Dickinson as a newly qualified solicitor in 2023, I’ve embraced many new challenges and learnt so much already. To have my efforts recognised in this way and be given the opportunity to be part of the LEAP programme is an amazing vote of confidence in my future career development prospects at Hill Dickinson.”
Glenn Hayes, partner in the firm’s Employment team in which Ruby sits, added:
“Ruby has impressed us from the start with her thirst for knowledge and can-do attitude, so when I was asked to nominate one of my team, she was an obvious candidate. After only a few short months with Hill Dickinson she is already a much-valued member of the team and is indicative of the exceptional legal talent we have coming up through the firm year by year.”
Esther Venning, head of Hill Dickinson’s Leeds office added her congratulations, saying:
“We are proud to be part of the Leeds community and to be an employer of choice for an upcoming generation of future leaders in the legal field. We are also hugely appreciative of this opportunity for Ruby to participate in the leadership development programme and look forward to working together with the team at LEAP over the coming months.”
The Top 30 Under 30 scheme first began in the Hull and Humber region in 2017 and has since supported 23 winners to go on to become directors, 11 heads of departments, three in group positions and 63 new managers.
