Crain’s Chicago Business has named partners Laura Lydigsen and Virginia Wolk Marino to its 2024 “Notable Women in Law” list. The series profiles women lawyers in top roles across Chicago who have handled significant matters, mentored others, and made notable contributions to their communities.
Lydigsen is co-chair of Crowell’s Intellectual Property Department. She is an intellectual property litigator with over 15 years of experience representing clients in patent litigation before the federal courts. She focuses on Federal Circuit appeals and district court litigation involving pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices.
Crain’s Chicago Business notes Lydigsen “represented generic drug companies seeking to bring lower-priced generics to the market, including a client in three active litigations involving drugs with annual sales topping $750 million.” She is on the board of the Federal Circuit Bar Association and is active in the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition.
Marino, a member of Crowell’s Advertising and Brand Protection Group, focuses her practice on all aspects of domestic and global brand protection, copyright, and unfair competition law. Her extensive trademark prosecution, counseling, and litigation practice includes the acquisition, maintenance, licensing, enforcement, and transfer of intellectual property.
Crain’s Chicago Business states that “Marino helped secure a favorable preliminary injunction for a health care client in a case involving trade secret, breach of contract and trademark infringement, and obtained successful judgments and favorable settlements before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.” Marino is the talent and inclusion partner for her practice group and has held various leadership roles in the International Trademark Association.
