The Burton Awards program honored Crowell & Moring partners Anne Elise Herold Li and John Fuson, and associate Garylene (Gage) Javier with a highly respected writing award for their article about minimizing risk when launching smart medical devices.
The authors won Law360’s Distinguished Legal Writing Award for their article, “How To Minimize Risk When Launching Smart Medical Devices.” The award is presented by the Burton Awards program, a national nonprofit organization run in association with the Library of Congress. The awards are presented by Law360 and co-sponsored by the American Bar Association. Just 25 articles were selected from entries submitted by the nation’s 1,000 largest law firms.
The award will be presented on June 12, 2023 at a gala reception at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.
Li represents clients whose products and services raise complex legal questions at the nexus of competitors and collaborators, including those times when one shifts to the other. She has significant experience in the biotech, pharma, life sciences, and medical device sectors, handling high-stakes litigation in patent, trade secret, and licensing disputes.
Fuson’s practice focuses on on U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) enforcement and counseling matters. Prior to joining Crowell, Fuson was associate chief counsel at the FDA, where he had broad law enforcement responsibilities, handling major enforcement actions brought by the agency, including seizure actions, injunction actions, actions for civil money penalties, and contempt actions.
Javier practices at the intersection of law, business, and technology. A Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) with a business and scientific background, she provides strategic legal and business solutions for sophisticated entities, including tech and government contracts clients, in matters associated with incident response, privacy and cybersecurity regulatory compliance, and technology-related litigation.
