Crowell & Moring hosted its 27th annual George Bailey Public Service Awards ceremony this month, named after the hero of the classic movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” The awards recognize the firm’s lawyers and staff who have made a substantial impact on the lives of others through their pro bono efforts.
“Pro bono work is at the heart of who we are as a firm,” said Susan M. Hoffman, Crowell’s Senior Public Service Counsel. “A tremendous need exists for legal help on issues like landlord-tenant disputes, domestic violence, and veterans’ benefits — and so many people have nowhere else to turn. We have to be willing to step outside our comfort zones to ensure access to quality representation, and the honorees we celebrate today do just that.”
The recipients honored include:
- Partners: Warrington Parker (SF); Christian Curran (DC)
- Senior Counsel: Beth Hecker (DC); Aaron Marx (DC)
- Counsel: Derick Dailey (NY); Emily Tucker (DC)
- Associates: Tai Williams (DC); Emily Strickland (NY)
- Rookie of the Year: Natalia Rojas-England (OC)
- Practice Support: Meredith Greisman (NY); Rayline Petitt (DC)
- Staff: Amelia Parizek (DC); Tomas Leen (NY)
- International: Sam Cooper (LO)
“What makes this event so meaningful is knowing that the people in this room don’t do this work for recognition,” said Tiana L. Russell, the firm’s Public Service Partner. “They do this work because they believe high quality legal representation should never be out of reach. To our honorees, and to everyone who contributed to our public service efforts this year: thank you.”
