John Koenigsknecht, co-chair of Crowell & Moring’s Corporate Group, and Andrew Avsec, managing partner of the firm’s Chicago office, have been named to Crain’s Chicago Business’ 2024 list of Notable Leaders in Accounting, Consulting, & Law. The list features 88 members and leaders in their firms and industries who touch “practically every aspect of business in Chicago.”
Koenigsknecht serves as a strategic advisor to companies nationwide and as U.S. counsel for international clients on corporate transactions, capital market transactions, and governance matters, including representing Goldcorp in what was then the largest merger in the gold industry. He has spent over 14 years on the board of CommunityHealth, including serving as president. Koenigsknecht joined Crowell’s Chicago office in April with three former colleagues, expanding the firm’s corporate, capital markets, M&A, and IP capabilities.
Avsec, a partner in Crowell’s Advertising & Brand Protection Group, advises clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to startups on brand protection, copyright, advertising, trade secret, and social media issues. Avsec volunteers for Legal Prep Charter Academy on the West Side, Chicago’s first legal-themed college prep school. He also serves as vice chair of the Right of Publicity Committee for the International Trademark Association. Avsec joined as Crowell’s Chicago office opened when the firm combined with 100-year-old Chicago intellectual property firm Brinks Gilson & Lione in 2021.
