The Recorder honored Crowell & Moring partner Chahira Solh with the Distinguished Leader Award at the annual California Legal Awards event in Los Angeles on Oct. 15. The award recognizes lawyers who have implemented major achievements in the last year. Solh was also named a finalist for the Mentorship Award in honor of the impact she has made on attorneys at the start of their careers and in the legal profession.
Solh is a partner in Crowell’s Orange County office and serves as chair of the firm’s executive committee and as a member of the management board. Solh is a trusted advisor on antitrust issues for a number of the country’s most recognizable companies, including in the auto, aviation, health care, and defense industries. Her practice focuses on all aspects of antitrust law, including litigation and government enforcement actions, joint venture analysis, merger control, and affirmative recovery opportunities.
In a Q&A discussion with The Recorder on her leadership style, Solh shared that, “leaders should be good listeners, encouraging the sharing of ideas, and should be building and facilitating relationships.”
In describing her mentorship style, Solh said she “focuses on listening to my mentees, and really hearing what they truly need. Sometimes that means radical candor; sometimes that means support; sometimes that means advice. And it all depends on the situation. The key is to build a relationship of trust so that your mentee knows you’re always looking out for their best interest.”
